NELSON RESOLUTION HONORS NATION’S DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS
July 30, 2009 – In honor of the nation’s hardworking direct support professionals, Nebraska’s Senator Ben Nelson announced today Senate passage of a resolution (S. Res 228) designating the week beginning September 14, 2009 as “National Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week.” Nelson is the chief sponsor of the resolution which pays tribute to the millions of care providers for individuals living with disabilities.
“This resolution will draw positive attention to the millions of professionals across the country who help support individuals living with disabilities,” said Nelson. “They often work long hours with little pay, but their contributions are critical. Today we recognize their dedication and vital role in enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities of all ages.”
